The controls don't work well on Firefox. Pressing up doesn't always work, or gets canceled by pressing right or left.

Otherwise, good casual fun.

Edit: It happens whether I use arrow keys or WASD. And its not just when pressing up, now it seems like the left key is more affected. It's a bit random.

gasgod responds:

Are you using arrow keys or WASD? Weird
Look into sticky keys?

Very simple but addictive, especially with the High Scores board. I like the high rate of fire of the arrows, and the sound effects are nice.

08jack responds:

thank you man, i hope to beat your highscore one day haha

Really simple but really fun! I found it pretty addictive, probably because I like twitchy fast games. Made it to 157, would love to see a scoreboard.

The music is perfect for this, and seems to be in beat with the color/speed change of the cursor. I wish the music would go on longer, at 145 seconds or so it repeated. I like how the movement gets faster, and there is some strategy involved in getting the orange triangles to destroy the red ones.

I think there is definitely room to add some more gameplay features, for example it would be cool if I got some kind of advantage (such as time going by quicker) by being inside the squares, or maybe a powerup that makes you invulnerable for a bit.

Tykua responds:

Wow, thank you so much for your amazing feedback, I'd love to work on it more.

I had a lot of fun with this! Also impressed with the amount of detail here for a jam game.

I like how it's a simulation game but you're just controlling one character, doing what you can to save people (or not).

It was fun to have two phases, first you're collecting money to research a vaccine while trying to avoid infection, and then you're immune and have to hand out the vaccines.

I was frequently down to only one infected, and while trying to find him he would infect others, quickly raising the number of infected again, which felt realistic and frustrating in a good way.

At a certain point I would have liked to have more stuff to purchase, such as building upgrades, but for a short jam game it was pretty well paced and I never felt bored.

Fat-Leech responds:

I'm extremely glad you had fun with the game and didn't find the infection overwhelming, I spent a lot of time trying to make sure the virus felt dangerous for the player while still being manageable.

Thanks a lot for playing and for leaving this fantastic feedback!

Really love all the graphic effects and style, and the music.

As another reviewer said, shooting could be more satisfying. Gameplay seems to need some adjustments, it feels a bit repetitive and unfocused.

Overall, my favorite jam game so far!

Edit:
Sure, I played it a bit again. The explosions look cool, and the hints are definitely helpful, especially regarding the possibility of changing weapon. I also liked how the drone can go underwater (I think you would die in the water previously?)

I feel like you changed something in the graphic filters and/or resolution/zoom. It feels like it has more noise, maybe more contrast, and that I can see the individual pixels better. Honestly, I think that I prefer how it was before, but it's hard to say without a direct comparison (or maybe I'm just imagining things and it's the same).

The shooting still doesn't feel very satisfying, I think that having enemies "knock-back" a bit when they are hit would help a lot in this regard. I also feel that the upgrades could make a much bigger difference, I don't feel much more powerful after 10 upgrades, and the game gets a bit too difficult quickly.

filipp8 responds:

I added explosions and some other things like ingame hints.
I plan to add more content. Would you mind play it again?

It's a shame that the stomping collision detection doesn't seem to work well; many times I feel that I've stomped correctly on an enemy, but I take damage. If it's not a bug, then it needs to be more forgiving somehow, such as having the player invulnerable to enemy collision while stomping.

There are also a few ways where the game could be more polished, such as having a transition between the end of a wave and the upgrade screen. Otherwise cool game!

decafpanda responds:

Thank you for the play and review. I'll will look into making some sort of invincibility during stomping. I never had any issues with it during testing so I wonder if it was some kind of lag on your browser. Even so it never hurts to give the player a few more I-frames!

Thanks again for your feedback

I love this. It's epic, plain awesome, and very well made. Why have I not seen this before? Why is its rating so low? This game deserves better. Well done!

Rarykos responds:

Thanks you so much! :) The rating is low because 1/3 of players don't know what to do when the game starts, that's the price of having no tutorial and hoping people will understand :(

Really liked the style. Would like it more if it went outside the one screen, with maze-like design and special items that are needed to go beyond certain areas, like a 2D Zelda game. Still a nice game though.

lokijki responds:

The theme for the compo I made this for was "entire game on one screen," so the current game is limited to that, but a Zelda-style exploration game may be a fun thing to try if I expand on this! :)
