Really love all the graphic effects and style, and the music.

As another reviewer said, shooting could be more satisfying. Gameplay seems to need some adjustments, it feels a bit repetitive and unfocused.

Overall, my favorite jam game so far!

Edit:
Sure, I played it a bit again. The explosions look cool, and the hints are definitely helpful, especially regarding the possibility of changing weapon. I also liked how the drone can go underwater (I think you would die in the water previously?)

I feel like you changed something in the graphic filters and/or resolution/zoom. It feels like it has more noise, maybe more contrast, and that I can see the individual pixels better. Honestly, I think that I prefer how it was before, but it's hard to say without a direct comparison (or maybe I'm just imagining things and it's the same).

The shooting still doesn't feel very satisfying, I think that having enemies "knock-back" a bit when they are hit would help a lot in this regard. I also feel that the upgrades could make a much bigger difference, I don't feel much more powerful after 10 upgrades, and the game gets a bit too difficult quickly.

I added explosions and some other things like ingame hints.
I plan to add more content. Would you mind play it again?

Great game, loved the music.

The thing is, after finishing, the next day I played again just to re-listen to the music. Then, I noticed that it was possible to go through the level again without reaching the finish, with all movement features unlocked. This would mean that I could get the blue "powerup", and reach the finish line. Then I noticed there were other items to get, that could only be caught on a second and third play-through. Awesome! Surely the game will recognize that I reached the end with all of them!

So I played the game more times than I'd like to admit, even reached the end with elevator music, all items active, and there was no recognition at all, not even an achievement. Maybe I missed something? This just seems like a huge missed opportunity.

There were also a few glitches, mostly related to collisions, but nothing too major.

Overall, it's still a great game. The visuals and animations were great, and very impressive that you've made it within 48 hours. If it had recognized that I caught all the items, I would have given at least 4.5 stars.

Great to see another dev from Portugal here ;) This is a really cool, elegant idea! I love the presentation. It started to lag a lot after a certain point (around 40M), even with fewer neurons after ascending. I feel that some more gameplay would make this better (not quite enough interesting decisions to make), but it's already fun as it is. Keep it up!

It's a shame that the stomping collision detection doesn't seem to work well; many times I feel that I've stomped correctly on an enemy, but I take damage. If it's not a bug, then it needs to be more forgiving somehow, such as having the player invulnerable to enemy collision while stomping.

There are also a few ways where the game could be more polished, such as having a transition between the end of a wave and the upgrade screen. Otherwise cool game!

decafpanda responds:

Thank you for the play and review. I'll will look into making some sort of invincibility during stomping. I never had any issues with it during testing so I wonder if it was some kind of lag on your browser. Even so it never hurts to give the player a few more I-frames!

Thanks again for your feedback

I love this. It's epic, plain awesome, and very well made. Why have I not seen this before? Why is its rating so low? This game deserves better. Well done!

Rarykos responds:

Thanks you so much! :) The rating is low because 1/3 of players don't know what to do when the game starts, that's the price of having no tutorial and hoping people will understand :(

I was pretty addicted to this when it launched. It has just the right difficulty for me; I never managed to beat it, but almost. Gameplay is great and the graphical effects are awesome, although non-programmers will probably not appreciate them as much.

Really liked the style. Would like it more if it went outside the one screen, with maze-like design and special items that are needed to go beyond certain areas, like a 2D Zelda game. Still a nice game though.

lokijki responds:

The theme for the compo I made this for was "entire game on one screen," so the current game is limited to that, but a Zelda-style exploration game may be a fun thing to try if I expand on this! :)

Wow, this is freaking amazing. Superb visuals and audio, you really nailed the concept. Hits me right in the feels.

Way, way, waaaaay too easy. I stopped playing at score 12000 out of sheer boredom, it seemed that the game would never get difficult. Felt more like a marathon than anything speedy.

While it's ok to start off easy, each "speed up" should increase the speed much more, so that more advanced players don't have to wait 15 minutes for the game to get challenging.

Other than that: great visuals; nice music and audio effects; gameplay could use some more elements (such as moving walls, click to jump over walls, etc.)

Awesome! Lots of details. This is what I call realistic control handling. And a very strong arm. Too bad I can't rip my left arm off.
